Start with the official course information
Choose your term, campus, and level in Rutgers’ Schedule of Classes. Treat that source as the final authority for a course’s sections, restrictions, meeting details, and registration status.
Keep an alternative section or course in mind. Rutgers notes that offerings and sections can change, especially around registration.
Build for requirements and real life
List required courses, prerequisites, and any classes you are already taking. Then define your non-negotiables: unavailable times, a reasonable daily span, campus preferences, and whether you need open sections only.
Scarlet Sync can help compare possible schedules, check prerequisite context, and surface campus/travel considerations. It is a planning aid, not a substitute for an advisor or official Rutgers records.
Compare options before registration opens
Look beyond a conflict-free grid: compare where classes meet, gaps between campuses, section availability, and whether the workload is realistic for you. Save a primary option and one or two backups.
For summer courses, check the official section dates carefully. Rutgers specifically warns that sections can overlap and that WebReg does not recognize summer scheduling conflicts.
Register only through WebReg
When your registration window opens, confirm the final section details in Rutgers systems and register through WebReg. Scarlet Sync never submits a registration for you.
Rutgers prohibits automated registration software. Use planning tools to prepare—not to automate the registration action.
