Wait for the official credit evaluation
Your previous coursework does not become a Rutgers degree plan until Rutgers evaluates it. Review the credit evaluation in your Rutgers systems and use it as the starting point for conversations with your school or major adviser.
For a preliminary, unofficial look at courses from a New Jersey community college, Rutgers directs students to NJTransfer. It is useful for planning, but it does not replace Rutgers’ final evaluation.
Separate transferred credits from requirements completed
A transferred course can count as credit without completing a particular major, school, prerequisite, or core requirement. Make a short list of the next requirements that your evaluation and advising guidance show are still outstanding.
Do not assume a general elective will unlock a sequenced course. Confirm prerequisite and placement details in the official catalog and with the appropriate academic adviser.
Build a first term you can adjust
Choose a reasonable set of requirements, then keep backup sections or backup courses. Build around the campuses where you will actually be during the day, rather than choosing sections solely because they fit on a grid.
If your evaluation is still being clarified, avoid making an irreversible plan around an assumed equivalency. Bring course descriptions or syllabi to the office that asks for them, and follow its published process.
Register only after you verify the official details
Confirm the term, section restrictions, meeting details, and availability in Rutgers’ official systems. Complete registration through WebReg; a planning tool cannot grant an override or change your official record.
